Head to Head
After searching for over 13 years to replace the Riv that got totaled by some kid driving an El Camino, I found this... I'm very happy with her in spit of the fact that she only gets 10 miles to the gallon...
Sunshine was my first convertible, and the first car I actually bought. I wanted a convertible ever since I was a little girl riding with my Dad in his 1967 Corvette, and I finally got one. Okay, so it wasn't the Corvette I REALLY wanted, but it was still sporty. It opened my eyes to the fact that a car didn't have to be big and ultra-powerful to be a lot of fun!

Riviera featured one of the greatest styling exercises in automotive history. Dubbed "the boat-tail," the look was supposed to draw upon stylish cars of the 1930s, but putting the design on a 218 inch length, 122 inch wheelbase, 4,247 lb car resulted in a look that buyers either loved or hated.
GM decreed that its engines had to be rated in net SAE output, a more realistic measure of engine power, and the Riviera's 455 power rating dropped to 250 bhp for the base model and 260 bhp for the GS. Top speed fell to 112 mph.
Engines: 455 V8 250 bhp. (GS) 455 V8 260 bhp @ 4400 rpm, 380 lb-ft @ 2800 rpm.

She was small, red, and cheap enough for a kid fresh out of high school to afford! She had the basic Mazda 4-cyl. engine and a 5-speed.

I'm in the process of updating the interior as well.... which includes my first attempt at re-upholstering the interior... Thank you very much to the many ant colonies who made my car home for enabling me to tear the interior out of my car over the last week in search of their sorry asses....
Mods for “Sunshine”
Just repairs as they were needed, which was pretty often.
