About “Little Red”

About “2+2”

The car is a 1974 Datsun 260Z 2+2. It was stock with the automatic transmission, air and was the early model prior to the switch over to the large battering ram bumpers. What made it an attractive car was the light gold colour with a white interior.
At that time these cars were in very high demand and for some reason are less desireable and ridiculed now. Nissan did an excellent transformation on this car to address a market not being serviced by anything other than Jaguar. This was a fabulous car for the person wanting sports car performance and appearance while still being able to handle a starting family.
Raydyots, aluminium slots and a Stebro exhaust rounded a good car making it great. Purchased again as my attempt at a sane family car at a time when my first wife was growing weary of 2 seat sports and muscle cars. The car was only 2 years old at the time and I traded a TR7 for this one which was a good move in any language.
I had it for a year outliving the marriage but leaving me questioning why a 2+2 when I was now single again. These were and are great cars and that back seat adds a very welcome dimension if you want a sports car with some usuable space.
Traded to my uncle for a 2.0 Porsche 914 which he purcahsed without driving discovering he really couldn't a manual transmission properly.
