About “papa's truck”
This vehicle was originally my Dad's. I hated it! It was a clunker. If you put to much weight in the back it felt unsteady and the ride often felt like a horse and buggy more then a vehicle. It was my Dad's pride and Joy. The year he pased away he had been doing extensive work on the truck and there was some thought that the chemicals he came in contact with while working on the truck may have made his condition worse. In the hospital my mother promised to put a sledge to the vehicle for it's part in making my Dad sick.In a barely audibe voice he said "dont hurt my baby". He died soon after and the truck was inherited by me. At first I thought "your oout of here" as I looked at the junkheap. Then I thought of my Dad, how much he loved that truck. Slowly but surely I started to think "maybe your not such a bad girl after all". My children were real youn when my Dad died and the truck was always "Papa's truck". Recently my daughter (whos now 14 referred to it as "Dad's truck". I quickly corrected her and said "Honey that will always be Papa's truck"
