Head to Head

About “Hurst Olds”

Found this car in an ad that listed it as a 83 Cutlass, black & silver. Called them and asked questions and realized it was a Hurst Edition. Got cash and took my trailer 110 miles and was able to get it. I had bought one of these when they were new and always regretted selling it. This one is original / unmolested in quite nice condition for its age.

About “bluebird”

Purchased around 1975 by the second owner who's done some modifications to the car, then gave the car to his son about 6-8 years ago when he retired from driving as he was in his 80's.

I'm the fourth owner and have been removing some of the worn half-baked mods that the previous owners had installed and slowly returning it to stock.

The sound of this 5.7L 350 Poncho V8 is just incredible. New cars just can't touch the sound of these venerable Pontiacs.

The major changes for the 1973 Pontiac Firebird consisted of a new "egg crate" grille insert and a revised Endura bumper that had been modified to meet new U.S. government crash standards as well as the introduction on the Trans Am of the bird decal that covered the whole hood. Stylist John Schinella, is credited for creating the legendary Indian symbol, which was nicknamed by many as the "Screaming Chicken".

Mostly restoring it to stock, removed aftermarket cruise control, and tach that didn't work, Replaced the center console and dash that had been hacked up adding electronics like a 1970's trip computer that no longer worked.
