Head to Head

About “Frankenolds”

I got this car in 2000 for free from the original owner in good running/driving condition. It had a 3.8(231ci)V6.
It has been in it's current state and on the road since 2003.
I used parts from several cars to build this on the super cheap. The '77 403 had a factory rating of 185hp/320ft.lbs torque. Just a little tweaking on carb jetting, timing, and breathing. It does run pretty strong for what it appears to be.
I built Oldsmobiles on the assembly line,so no problem building them at home.

About “Slow-cus”

What's to say? Fairly high miles (88k as of 01/2007) for its age, but apart from the front bumper being in need of a respray and the wheels showing signs of age/slight kerbing hasn't fared too badly.

Would benefit greatly from actually having some power. Nice enough to drive, handles competently, just woefully underpowered.

Mods for “Slow-cus”

Nothing exciting (so far) - variable intermittent wiper stalk, map lights, swapped ashtray for felt-lined storage tray (surprisingly useful!). Also added steering column stereo controls and a Puma gearknob - the first is very handy, the second just looks and feels nice. Woo!

Would like 16" Zetec wheels (similar design, but biggerer+nicerer) and -30mm suspension drop. A lot of money for no real gain, better just to buy a faster car...
