A Nissan Diesel Pickup With Attitude

Import diesel pickups have been around for a long, long time in every market except the United States. Markets such as Asia and Africa and even South America have enjoyed diesel pickups, both full size and compact, for decades.

Why aren’t there any import diesel pickups in the United States as of now? Many of the drawbacks include safety and emissions standards, along with the business case for offering emissions-friendly diesels while still making a profit. To date, the only diesel pickup reportedly headed to the United States comes from Mahindra USA, Inc., although we’ve yet to see any arrive. (more…)

Putting the Clean Into Clean Diesel

We’re fans of many things, some of which are big fun, big power, huge miles per gallon numbers … and VWs. I know what you’re thinking, but how can you not like the things? Way back when we had a number of VWs, from off-road competition-ready cars to what was then termed a “Cal” bug. Heck, we even had a VW van that we worked construction out of. All of them were fun, but this 2010 Jetta TDI is not only fun and comfortable to drive; it gets insanely good mpg numbers, too in the neighborhood of 50 mpg highway, right off the showroom floor. The Few. The Proud. The Marines. We’ve all heard the recruiting slogans and have seen the commercials, but how many of us actually know a marine? They come from all across the country and in civilian life, they were just the kid who grew up next door. Chances are you’ve run into a marine in your travels. Tack-sharp uniform; spit-shined shoes; waiting at the airport to get on a plane to who knows where. Makes you wonder, “Are they flying home to loved ones or heading into harm’s way?” Many of us make it a point to shake that soldier’s hand and thank him for his service, or buy him a cup of coffee or breakfast anonymously.

Ford Power Stroke Incentives

You mentioned on page 16 of your Diesel World Magazine, Summer 2006 (Volume 1 Number 2) that Ford was offering $2,500 incentive to ’03 and ’04 Power Stroke owners. Is this offer only if you are trading/buying a new Ford? What to you mention or how do you get the incentive?
