They say everything is bigger in Texas, and if you look at both the truck count and attendance figures for the National Hot Rod Diesel Association’s annual visit to the Lone Star State, you’d have to agree. Last year’s event was plagued by rainy and cold weather, which hurt attendance, but this year, the Eyes of Texas and the sunshine were upon the NHRDA at the Texas Motorplex, in Ennis, Texas, just outside of Dallas. The old saying “Everything is Bigger in Texas” may or may not be true, but in the case of NADM’s Texas Diesel Roundup, this year’s event was most definitely bigger than the inaugural held last year. March Madness is typically associated with the pairing down of 64 NCAA basketball teams into championship rounds of competition. In Arizona, March Madness means baseball spring training with a whole host of major league teams coming to the Valley of the Sun to play Cactus League games against each other. For the past three years, March is the season opener for the NHRDA’s Desert Diesel Nationals at Speedworld, just north of Phoenix.
