NHRDA at the Texas Motorplex

Monday, August 1st, 2011

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and if you look at both the truck count and attendance figures for the National Hot Rod Diesel Association’s annual visit to the Lone Star State, you’d have to agree. Last year’s event was plagued by rainy and cold weather, which hurt attendance, but this year, the Eyes of Texas and the sunshine were upon the NHRDA at the Texas Motorplex, in Ennis, Texas, just outside of Dallas. NADM Texas Diesel Roundup

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

The old saying “Everything is Bigger in Texas” may or may not be true, but in the case of NADM’s Texas Diesel Roundup, this year’s event was most definitely bigger than the inaugural held last year. Nearly 3,500 fans packed the “Concrete Palace,” as Dallas Raceway is known, to see a full day of side-by-side diesel drag racing and sled pulling. (more…)

Big-Rig Racing – - Why? Because You Can

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Two big triple-axle rigs prepare for burnouts. There were classes for all kinds of trucks, and all kinds showed up for a day at the track.

Imagine the spectacle: Two triple-axle Peterbilt trash compactor trucks edge into the burnout box and light up the tires, building to a fine crescendo of white smoke. They stage, the Christmas tree counts down, Detroit Diesel engines rage, black smoke blasts from the stacks and the two are off––rear ends hopping, lumbering down the track in slow motion, turbos whining like a dental drill, with dueling train horns blasting back and forth all the way down the track. OK, so they’re not exactly fast. But take it from us: You haven’t lived until you see it for yourself. (more…)

Big Power Highlights the Annual Dyno Extravaganza

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Industrial Injection’s annual Dyno Day brought out some heavy hitter from all across the West.

With some aggressive advertising and good old fashioned word-of-mouth, the folks at Industrial were able to make this event even bigger and better than the last. With two dynos on site, they were able to test over 50 trucks, most of which were in the mid 400 horsepower plus range, which lends credence to the belief the diesel aftermarket industry is still alive and strong in the central Utah area. Buckeye Diesel Blast
Rain Does Not Deter NADM’s Inaugural Event

We all know the postal carrier motto: Neither rain nor sleet nor dark of night…blah, blah blah…you get the point. The point is the mail is going to get delivered no matter the conditions. In the diesel event business, it’s rare an event continues when Mother Nature deals a bad set of cards.

March Madness is typically associated with the pairing down of 64 NCAA basketball teams into championship rounds of competition. In Arizona, March Madness means baseball spring training with a whole host of major league teams coming to the Valley of the Sun to play Cactus League games against each other. For the past three years, March is the season opener for the NHRDA’s Desert Diesel Nationals at Speedworld, just north of Phoenix.
