Germans must think that American truck designers sit inside a Wal-Mart every morning, deciding over an Egg McMuffin that of the millions of customer requests, they’re going to make some sort of exhaust brake, integrated trailer brake and six-speed automatic transmissions standard. Don’t forget to employ circa Y2K European after-treatment technology, too. Redemption is sweet and we’ve finally prepared our comeback shall it arise in any future debates on historical automotive design.

Diners, Drive-ins, Dives and Diesels

Food Channel celebrity chef Guy Fieri is usually seen behind the wheel of a Camaro on his hit show, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Truth be told, though, he’s actually a diesel enthusiast. Here’s he showing off his customized Kodiak, which features a spiced-up interior, lifted suspension, custom rims (not duallys) and a modified Duramax, juiced up with an aftermarket computer chip. He likes to use it for family RV outings, but asked what he hauls, he had a one-word reply: “ass.”

Readers’ Rides

American Dream
Travis Newhart submitted photos of his ’04 F-350 all the way from Iraq. The staff sergeant in the United States Air Force wanted to show off the truck he calls “American Dream.” Travis worked with a company out of Madison, Ohio, to design the custom graphics running down the sides of the Ford, making it a one-of-a-kind scheme honoring the country he serves.
