Any Weekend is a Good Weekend to Spend in San Diego!
Memorial Day and Labor Day bring out all of the hot rods, muscle cars, low riders and off-road vehicles to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego for the Cool Expo show and swap meet. The best part of the show is the row of Volkswagens parked across from the row of late-model Mopars parked next to a bunch of hot rods, etc. (more…)

The Shows Before the Big Show
A bunch of years ago a little club called Roadsters of Los Angeles hosted a car show for all of their friends. Well, that little car show has grown into one of the largest events in California, and it has spawned a bunch of events that happen the week before the show. A couple of the largest are the SO-CAL Speed Shop and the Walden Speed Shop open houses. They have grown into events in their own right, with people lining the streets trying to catch a glimpse of some of the historically significant cars that often show up at the open houses before they make their official appearance at the L.A. Roadsters Show on Father’s Day weekend. (more…)

Lake Havasu City, Arizona’s Premier Hot Rod, Classic Truck and Muscle Car Event
It’s hard to believe that a meager gathering of 28 hot rod owners for the inaugural Camp-O-Rama & Rod Run would grow into Lake Havasu City’s premier hot rod and muscle car event. That name did not last long as few attendees actually opted to camp. And as the event continued to grow throughout the past 33 years, the location continued to change and grow with the attendance numbers. (more…)

Hot rods, bikes and bands make for a great day!
April 16, 2011 brought another amazing event to Southern California, The 3rd annual Hippy Killer Hoedown. This event was the brainchild of legendary hot rod builder Jim “Bones” Noteboom and his son Kutty. They have both been building custom cars and bikes for as long as anyone can remember, but the Hoedown is their first foray into getting all of their friends together with their custom bikes and hot rods to bench race and listen to some live bands. Horsepower has always been at the top of the list for car fans. The feeling of a perfectly tuned power plant roaring to life, allowing all of the horses out of the stable at once, as you release the clutch and nudge the throttle can’t be described; it can only be experienced. In the past few years the trend of building all-out, asphalt-assaulting muscle cars has shifted from making them go fast in a straight line to driving whatever sheet metal happens to tickle your fancy. (more…)
