Collector Car Appreciation Day

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils announced July 8, 2011 as Collector Car Appreciation Day. The date marks the second commemoration in what will become an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.  SEMA’s commitment to preserving and promoting the automotive restoration industry through its projects and programs is evident in this event.

On July 8, American Classic Cars and the Cal-Rods car club joined to celebrate this special day at American Classic Cars garage in Pomona, California. It was a hot day, but the event was held in the afternoon and evening to avoid some of the heat. Also on hand was The San Dimas HEROES (http://sandimasheroes NULL.org/). They are accepting donations to construct a permanent memorial to honor all of our current military personnel. For more information contact Sandimasheroes@aol.com ( Sandimasheroes null@null aol NULL.com).  The hot rods began to arrive about 4, and the DJ and barbecue fired up about 4:30.  By 5:30 the 150-plus hot rods had arrived and the food and drinks were flowing. A little later The San Dimas HEROES started drawing raffle numbers.
