Mooneyes Christmas Party

There were plenty of vendors on hand to handle all of your high-performance needs. Take, for example, Taylor Engines—the company specializes in vintage power plants—and Mattson’s Radiator can build any shape and size of radiator you could imagine.

You might remember that in 2009 the Mooneyes Christmas Party was rained out. Sure, some diehard enthusiasts showed up, but it was a fraction of the number of cars and spectators that the show has drawn in years past. To make up for the fact that it rained, Chico and the crew from Mooneyes had a make-up show in the summertime that was a huge hit. Come December 11, 2010 the crew from Mooneyes hosted another Christmas Party at Irwindale Speedway, and this time Mother Nature cooperated with a sun-drenched Southern California day. The gates swung open a 6 a.m. and a steady stream of pre-1965 show cars and bikes and pre-1969 drag cars rolled in for hours on end. There was also row after row of vendors where you could find everything from hot rod parts to baby clothes and even get your hair cut. If the hundreds of show cars and all of the vendors weren’t enough, there was a live pinstriping demo, art auction, eighth-mile drags, pinup girl contest, and they even rolled a bunch of front-engine fuel cars out on the drag strip for their version of a cacklefest!

This ‘40 Ford pickup was the latest project to roll out of the front door at Bob’s Customs & Rods from Ontario, CA.

When asked if they were going to have another summertime show this year to backup the Christmas Party, all the Mooneyes rep would say is that we had to keep an eye on the company’s website at (http://www NULL.mooneyesusa to see. All we know is if they do, we’ll be there!
