My Inaugural Trip to the Indy 500

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

From left to right: Robert Hight, John Force, Courtney Force and NHRA President Tom Compton on pit road.

My inaugural trip to the Indy 500 was a whirlwind of fans, Indy drivers, media and a lot of walking. For three days I was all over the place with my drivers Robert Hight, Mike Neff and my youngest daughter Courtney. We signed autographs and mingled with fans three different times at my John Force Road Show on the corner of 16th Avenue and Georgetown, just outside the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. At first I wasn’t sure that was the best place. As soon as I got into Indy I drove down to The Speedway at 1 a.m. to check it out. Every day more and more people came by. (more…)

Here is one of Force's young gun drivers, Robert Hight, signing autographs in Houston.

Our team has started the 2011 Full Throttle Drag Racing season strong with Auto Club driver Robert Hight and Castrol GTX driver Mike Neff. They’ve won three of the first five races, and Neff just barely missed getting his second win of the season in Houston. Seeing those guys in the winner’s circle got me thinking. (more…)

For 16 years, good friend and all around car guy (to say the least) Bill Warner has been the inspiration and go-to at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Bill is the founder of this wonderful event which benefits Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. The annual show takes place in mid-March and is held at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island Golf Club, just a short hop north of Jacksonville, and this year honored 24-time CART Indy Car driver Bobby Rahal. Hanging With The NASCAR Crew

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

I got to spend the day in Charlotte at the end of March, and I had a great time in NASCAR country. I was out there helping Bruton Smith’s people promote the 2nd annual Four Wide NHRA Nationals happening at zMax Dragway April 14-17. I was also talking up my sponsors, Castrol, Auto Club, Mac Tools, BrandSource and Ford Racing. (more…)

Two-Lane Blacktop ’55 Coming to the Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

We all have pivotal moments in our lives when we remember exactly what we were doing and where we were when something dramatic happened: the attack on Pearl Harbor, where we were when JFK was shot and our first drag race. I clearly remember going to see the movie Two Lane Blacktop. Starring singer James Taylor (with hair), late Beach Boy drummer Dennis Wilson, Laurie Bird and the late-but-cool Warren Oates, TLB was a cult hit 40 years ago. Of course, the real star for us car guys was the ’55 Chevy—old school before it was cool. (more…)

Bowling Green – - What Other Color Is There?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by Automobile Club of Southern California has announced a major change to the schedule for the 9th Annual Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion. Instead of the Friday through Sunday format, the event will now run Thursday through Saturday. The reasons for the one-day move up are many, but primarily it was done because people said they wanted to be with their families on Father’s Day. Also, many of the long-distance attendees wanted to be on the road heading home on Sunday. Consequently, the event has been moved up a day. The action is now scheduled for June 16-18 at the historic Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, (http://www NULL.beechbend (more…)
