This Woodie Delivers the Goods in Style

If something needs to be done, it may as well be done with a little style. That was the thinking behind building this 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Woodie owned by the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Having a lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding the winner’s trophy presentation has a long and storied history (mostly involving cute trophy girls giving the winner a kiss; it’s a tradition we wholeheartedly support, by the way). When is a woodie not a woodie? When instead of wood, it has artisan applied paint that looks like wood.

When Brian Vanzant of Paducah, Kentucky brought his 1950 Chevrolet to the crew at Brad Starks Rod & Custom, also of Paducah, Ky., It was painted solid white, had 4 doors, was running but un-restored and as Starks deadpanned, “it needed brakes.”
