Apr 30, 2009 at 10:00 am: I haven't shown a car since about 15 years ago when I took my 1968 Cougar to the Dogwood show at Wachtel's. It wasn't bad, but I didn't have high expectations. My Cougar was pretty well ignored at the first show, even though it was an extremely rare 428 CJ R car. This show, I only had a 1 of 3000 car that was newer than most cars there...very limited audience for a 1999 Miata 10AE. I roasted my face off. The experience would have been better if there were some sort of groupings or categories. Not sure what sort of FIX was placed on the show, since there was only one trophy and a drawing for door prizes and cash. I didn't get anything, but didn't expect to. Wish more folks would have stopped and talked, though. It seemed as if many people just wanted to look at a specific type of car and ignored the rest. I would have loved to talk cars in general.

I'VE BEEN TO SHOWS ALL OVER THE U.S AND NEVER SEEN SUCH CHAOS, "RIGGING", OR POLITICS INVOLVED. I WILL NEVER ENTER ANOTER ONE IN ATHENS, EVEN IF IT WERE FREE!!

About 2nd Annual Cars on the Square Car Show

Held on the Beautiful Historic Downtown Courthouse Square. Sponsored by Jimmy Smith Pontiac-Buick-GMC and U. G. White Hardware. Profits benefit the Limestone County Parks and Recreation Board. Open to all cars and trucks of special interest. Pre-Registration through April 18, 2009-$15.00. Day of show $20.00. Don't forget to visit our Swap Meet Area too. $4,000.00 in CASH PRIZES!!! 1st Cash Prize-$2,000.00, 2nd Cash Prize-$1,000.00, 3rd & 4th Cash Prize-$500.00 each.
