Well we made it home today around 4:00 p.m. It has been a long fun filled 9 days. It is very, very hot here at home and while on vacation on the Bandit Run, I had to buy 2 sweat shirts and froze my butt off in the first few days.
But that is ok, we had a great time again on the Bandit Run 2008 and I think everyone agrees that doing the laps at Bristol Motor Speedway was by far, the most fun these guys have had in a while. Every day everyone was talking about their car and what it did at Bristol. This was a major hit and I think everyone would love to include something like this each year, maybe switch between Bristol and Talladega HINT, HINT, HINT.....
I still have lots of pics to put up, I tried to get all the cars, I apologize ahead of time if I happened to miss you. By the time Thursday came around, so many new people were showing up, I didnt know who was who anymore. Any one is welcome to copy the pics that I posted on the Motortopia Blog site or email me and I will send you what ever you want. To those of you who gave me your cards and emails, give me about a week and I will get things sent to you as promised. It will take me a little longer for the movies, as I need to get my son over here on Thursday to help me download all of them. Alot of my pictures have pictures of the mountains in them, but I couldnt help it, I love the mountains. I live in Florida and we dont even have hills here, so, please forgive the girly shots.
It may seem like it is the same cars in some of the shots, it is just the luck of the draw as to where we were in line and who was in front of me or besides me at that time.
To everyone we met on this trip, it was nice meeting you and like last year we came home with lots of new friends and hope to stay in touch always.
Until Next Year: BANDIT RUN 2009

We got to my place about 930 last night.. after a nice BBQ Rib dinner at "Sticky Fingers" Then she started her trip to her place this morning and got home safe around 5 this afternoon. So it was a great trip, no tickets, no accidents, and no car problems.
And Brenda, if you need any help, let me know. I'll be sending you a HD with your stereo soon. -

Brenda,
Red was right about the people! Prior to the run we discussed having other car types join us and Red stated it wasn't about the cars but about the people! Wow, what a great group of people I have become friends with!
You are right about Bristol. As good as Parkersburg and Charleston rolled out the red carpet for us (we all need to send thank-you cards to those folks!), Bristol took the prize for the most fun! WOW!!!
I really appreciate your photos even more so because my diskette (1st one taken) developed an error on the video side of the camera and I can't get it to finalize the disk for playing in the DVD player so I really appreciate your taking photos and videos.
Glad you guys made it home! Come back to the mountains anytime and you can stay at my house while your up here!!
God Bless!
Ron

All--
With many thanks to Ron for hooking me up with his secret weapon (Dave, his mechanic), the car finally ran cool
all the way back to Dallas and never broke 180 degrees, even with the air conditioning turned on and traveling at a rapid clip. I left Atlanta at 5:45 AM Sunday and arrived in Plano around 6:00 PM the same day making a few stops on the way.
Today was spent cleaning the bug guts, tar, adhesive from the Road Atlanta sticker (BTW, WD-40 helps dissolve the glue), and accumulated road grime off the car. Not sure what I can do about the depression in the driver's seat from two thousand, eight hundred and two miles of my fat you-know-what sitting in it.
The cramp in my right leg and the ache in my lower back are finally starting to ease up...second gen Trans Ams weren't built for comfort.
Although it was tough not running Bristol because of the problems with the car, it was easily offset by the rest of the run and developing so many new friendships.
I'll do my best to compile my photographs and video clips and get them posted as soon as possible.
All the best,

Same here, Mac.
By the way, I think Louisiana needs to change it's state byline to "The Buggy State"...and I ain't talking the four wheel variety. I kid you not, I crossed the Mississippi at Vicksburg into Louisiana and ran into a wall of flying insects of all kinds...here's what the T/A looked like when I got home (and I cleaned it off three times on the way!!):

Thirty six hours and a lot of elbow grease later, she looked like this:

Cleaned up pretty good, huh?
