    i have a 1991 beretta with the 3.1L auto. the problem im having is that when she gets warm she dies at stop signs etc. when ever u step on the brakes. she is not throwing any codes or anything like that. Help please i'm going to pocono at the end of july and need to figure this out by then.

    It sounds like a plugged PCV valve, or maybe a plugged catalytic converter. For the PCV valve, I'm not sure if an electronic diagnostic would catch it. You usually must test the valve by removing the hose and pressing your finger on it. If the engine seems to labor with your finger covering the valve opening, then the valve is working. If you don't hear any difference with the engine then the valve isn't working.

    I think on front wheel drive cars with V6's, the PCV valve is located between the engine and the firewall. On my car, they need to drop the whole engine to get at it.

    Another thing it could be is a torque converter lock up control solenoid. i had the same problem on a 91 Corsica with the 3.1. I located it and unplugged it, problem solved. I never fixed it but the milage did suffer a mile or two to the gallon. It would cost about 40.00 in parts to fix which includes a new trans filter.
