   I changed the gears, added a supercharger and still get 26 hyw on my 98 Trans Am, would not trade for any ecn, car!
    

    

   The need for is growing and spring is time to bring out the BARR"S AM for the shake down run, hope all of you are ready as I am.

   Superchargers only drain off an engine what a power steering system does (3 hp), but they add a lot more than 3 hp at peak boost and like a turbo don't worsen economy much. I think modern blowers have a disengaging clutch that allows it to disconnect when cruising to save gas.
   
   The interesting thing about economy is that the smallest engine isn't always the best. In 1967 Consumer Report did their usual full size family sedan test and the biggest engined, most powerful car got the best gas mileage. This car was a Bonneville with the premium fuel 10.5 CR 400 ci, when combined with tall rear gears it was the fastest accelerating car in the group (10 seconds 0-60) and also got 20 mpg.

   Yup, one thing lacking on old muscle cars is an overdrive gearbox, they were all 4 speeds, but a Richmond 6 speed can be retrofitted.
