Personally I'd rather see Kevin's sketches turn into reality than that one... looks too much like a sunfire to me.

I saw the drawing of this one about a year ago and it was then reported to be based on the next generation of Holden Monaro and the rumor was that it would replace the GTO name.

I sorry dudes but this does not look like a sunfire. Are you kidding me. The nose has some resemblence to the sunfire because duh, its a Pontiac. All Pontiacs have similar nose jobs due to Branding and Marketing. Look at the details of this sketch and it has very little in common with a sunfire except it looks like a Pontiac. Lets see where did they get the idea for the Sunfire Nose anyway, hmm maybe a 77-78 Trans am I do believe. This drawing would fit perfect on the new Camaro platform. I am sure some things would be different for packaging reasons, but if this is close to what it could look like, bring it.

You may have the makings of a new trivia question. What year did Pontiac switch from the Indian on the hood to the now familiar trademark " birds beak" style nose?

I think pontiac changed from the indian to the arrow head in the mid fifties. I know that as far as indian hood ornaments, 1954 was the last, then it swithed to an arrow ornament, then to two, then nothing on the hood except for an arrow on the beak. Remember, ther were Chiftains in 1957, but that was also the first year of the limited Bonneville.(convertable only, fuel injection). That's also the start of them naming the cars after races, tracks and such. (Bonneville salt flat, grand prix, GTO(Grand tuorismo omollogato) lemans.) It was a decision to change the pontiac image from an old, person car to a youthful, sporty image. The arrow itself, might not truly be seen until 1959 or 60. scratchchin image

The beak itself, started to show up on the full sive carsin 1959, witht he 60 also having a bit of a beak, 61 was a n off year, and 62 had a small bead witht he split grill. 63 had a traditional beak.

Don't forget about the Silver Streaks of the late 50s... but like you said.. the 59 Bonneville 'vert had a large silver arrow looking emblem.. but the 61 Beoonevilles and Tempests had the full arrow.
