Hey, everyone.
Looking at Kevin's photograph of his trip odometer with over 1,700 miles made me wonder...how far did everyone else drive?
Almost to the tenth of a mile, I came in at 2,802.

Greg--
That's amazing...particularly given how sweet of a car you own!
I was reminded in spades the price that is paid for letting the cars sit under a car cover for too long. It cost me plenty to get the car ready for TBR as a result and I still had bugs which got worked out on the trip.
These cars really were meant to be driven. Bottom line, you're my hero!

Hi Tinman,
My wife has her mother's 1983 Recaro Trans AM (which we bought about 10 years ago from her mother - the original owner - and never drove it and we payed the price). All the gaskets and seals dryed up and needless to say we had alot of repair work. Now we drive them as often as we can.
If you think about it back in the 70's, they didn't buy these TA's to park in the garage... they drove them...
Since I bought my 77 Trans AM in September of 2000 I've put on over 14,000 miles, which 6,000 miles is from the last two Bandit Runs I participated in. I guess you can say the restoration job is broke in now...
By the way I think you have one seet ride yourself...

Tinman,
Although I don't remember the exact mileage, I do remember thinking how did I put just over 1,600 miles for the week. That's more than I have driven that car in one time perhaps. Although it has gone to Huntsville, AL, Nashville, TN, and Louisville, KY on the same trip on at least two occasions, that's only about 1,200 miles or so.
You are correct, mine leaks fluid if it sits over a 1-2 week period without being driven at the main Trans seal. I have to drive it regularly and don't mind doing so if the weather is right!

Ross and i kept a log and journal of the trip. 2878 miles, $705 in fuel. Great time on the road. Since Ross is 12, I thyink it will be one of those lifetime experiences for him, me too. We'll try to take the '78 MACHO T/A next year.

Prettybird81--
I'm not so sure we can count the rental...
My '76 is still complaining. The driver's side seat foam hasn't recovered yet.
