My 76 dies after driving a bit... after about 1 minute, it restarts and is good to go again for a while.... any thoughts????

what are some of the things it does , turns over but no spark? maybe bad coil
does it always only run for the same short amount of time then die? -

Thanks for the feedback.... I thought it might be electrical because we were having some issues with the fuse link but, after talking to my son - he was driving at the time - I think it might be fuel related. He says it died as if it wasn't getting fuel, would crank but not start. After waiting a minute, it started. First time it happened he said he had been driving for about 5 minutes and then again after 15 minutes. On the positive side, when it runs, it runs well... smooth ride - no shimy etc and he said he exceeded the speed limit... with no problem.. .lol.....
thanks again... appreciate any thoughts. Going to start with fuel pump, filter etc... fuel pump wiring....

If it was carburated I'd say it was a vapour lock problem. The '73's suffered from this in the early '73 release. There was a dealer installed recall that was supposed to fix the problem.If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

i would check the line coming from the gas tank if it has a screen in it i had my car choke off when there was some crap in the gas tank that kept plugging when i would stop for awhile it would start and run fine again till the crap came down to the screen and plugged it again. -
