I'm curious. I may be able to pull off the Bandit Run this year (or at least next year), so I was wanting to know how you guys do hotels and such. Is the hotel reserved for the group and you pay for it individually or does everyone make their own reservations or what??

How does the route get planned? Is it worth having a CB radio? Can you DO the run without it?

If all these questions are on another website, please tell me where I can find it...I don't want to bug anybody. Thanks!! biggrin image

Bandit Runners are a great group of people and I will attempt to answer your questions. The run is over for 2009. It was in May. It has always been in May and ends up at Year One In Atlanta. The last 2 years the hotel reservations were handled by a travel agent. You called one toll free number and gave them your credit card number and they handled all the bookings at the group rate. Next year's run will most likely follow the same pattern. I would imagine there will be group reservations handled by a travel agent. At this time the 2010 route has not been decided. The organizers will post all the info on this site once it becomes available so you just have to keep checking the site. Each year we have taken a different route. Some folks do the entire run and some start and stop at various points long the way. The 1st 2 years we only did a portion of the run but this year we were able to go the whole way. It is a blast! Nothing compares with driving down the highway with all those fellow Bandit Runners. As for the CB, you do not have to have one but it does make the trip more enjoyable. It is great hearing the comments from the truckers and it also keeps you in touch with other runners. For example, we will sometimes decide to pull into a rest area to try and bunch the group up before we arrve at our next destination. People with CBs get the info but sometimes those without them kept on going. I guess it is up to you but we really enjoy the CB on the run. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions and hope you can make it next year.

Thanks for the response, Debbie. I knew the run was over for this year...Loon sent me all the videos and photos, and those were great. I would love to do this in 2010, but may have to wait til 2011 when my kiddos are in school...and I'm less neurotic about my new paint job! lmao image I even plan to use my dad's old CB handle, ThunderChicken. (Anyone from around Pontiac, MI, remember him? biggrin image ) I'm really excited about it.

Thanks for answering my questions...I can already tell you "guys" are a great group. Now to talk my husband into letting me go on the Run. sarcastic image

Great writeup! I went on the first 2.. didn't make this years unfortunately. CBs are HIGHLY recommended for fun if nothing else! smile image And a GPS in case the lead car gets lost again would come in handy.. LOL. Gonna try to make next year if I can get the time off and can afford it.. but we'll see. Its a blast non-the-less.

This year was our first year on the run. We only did a portion from Branson to Hot Springs. Hope to do the entire run next year.

We did not have a CB this year but will definately have one next year. I think we missed out on quite a bit of the fun!!!! hyper image

Such a great group of people, can't wait to see everyone next year!!!
