I saw where S & B was on HBO today.

It got me thinking, does anybody know why Coors was illegal east of the Missippi? And why/when did it change?

If I remember correctly it had something to do with Coors being a regional brand and there was no east coast distribution. You could buy it out west and bring it back east and drink it but it was illegal to sell. I can remember buying it in the Atlanta area around 1982 so it changed sometime in the early 80's.

Below is what was quoted in the Arkansas Times which was conveniently posted on the forum under Newspaper/Magazines Articles.

"It's awesome to remember that the plot is all about bootlegging Coors, which couldn't be sold or shipped east of the Mississippi because of arcane liquour laws. Was Coors really that much better than everything else in 1977?"

I was only 10 when the movie came out and Schlitz was my beer of choice (or at least that what my dad drank), LOL!!

If I remember right, it was the alcohol content of Coors. All beer sold on the east coast was 3.2 % and Coors was 6%.
