Hey Red--We're making a run to Bonita Beach in a couple of weeks. Anything you want us to scout out on the way? The swamp buggy races are in Naples on October 25. Should be a unique experience.

Hello Fellow Bandit Runners and New Bandit Runners, grouphug image
Hope everyone has had a great summer. Gary and I are very excited to see that there is going to be a Florida run.
We live in West Palm Beach / Jupiter area and have made all 3 Bandit Run's so far.
If everyone remembers from last year at Year One, The Year One team asked everyone what they would like to do for next year and everyone yelled out BEACH RUN. thumbsup image There are many great things to do in Florida and I think it is great that the next run is comming our way.

No matter where the run has started in the past, it has always been at least a 1200-1300 mile trip one way for us. We have never complained because the Bandit Run is one of the most fun trips we have ever taken no matter where it started. Look at it this way, I have seen many parts of the country that I never would have seen if it were not for this trip. In my opinion, if we took the original route that Smokey and the Bandit took; which we did the first year, it would be quite boring by now. Every year Dave Hall and Year One put a lot of hard work and time planning this out to have great routes for us to take and we all leave excited to see where next years run will take us. applause image applause image applause image

Now, in Florida, there are many places to go, it just depends on which way you go, you can go West Coast Panama City / Destin area and Tampa / Ft. Meyers and cross over to the Jupiter area or East Coast all the way. We have St. Augustine which is a very pretty place to visit, there is of course Orlando, but the traffic is a nightmare up there. We have Don Garlitts Drag Racing Museum car image , there is also DAYTONA BEACH woot2 image which is cool because you can drive your car on the beach and I got some great pictures of the sun comming up with the Trans Am and the ocean in the background. Then if you go to DAYTONA SPEEDWAY checkeredflag image and sweet talk the security guard, he might just let you drive your car thru the tunnel to the track and turn around and come back out, at least that is as far as he would let us go, we did that last year and Gary was grinning all the way home, but maybe Dave and Year One can pull some strings to get us on the track. Then a little bit farther south is the PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY checkeredflag image in the Jupiter area which has a trafficlight image 1/4 mile drag strip, a road coarse and a go cart track trophy image which is a blast to go to. Then of course there is Burt Reynolds Ranch and Museum in which I am not sure if the Museum is still open or not. But anyway there are many things to do in Florida and we couldn't be happier that this year we are going to be close to home and not driving for 2 days to get where ever the Bandit Run is starting.

Good decision guys, you know we will be there no matter where it starts.

Ready to hit the road. checkeredflag image steeringwheel image banana image banana-roxor image bananawoot image bananadance2 image bananaw image

RED- If you need any help with anything, just shout and we will be more than happy to give you a hand.

The Burt Reynolds Ranch is no longer. It is currently wned by Palm Beach County School District. As far as the museum, the last i knew it was still open, but they are in talks of moving it from its current location, which is the NW corner of Indiantown Rd and US Hwy 1to the Burt Reynolds Park which is located just north a few miles on US Hwy 1. I will have family in the Jupiter area get more info on this Red if you need it. Just let me know. convertible image

Wow! This will be fun... perhaps one of the best routes yet!

Florida is a great place to go in the spring time when it becomes beach weather!

It will be a blast! I look forward to another great Bandit Run!

Red, let me know if I can assist! smile image
