About 1977BlackTa’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
I've always loved cars since my dad tinkered with them. I was 12 when I really got interested in the 1964 1/2 Mustang that sat in the garage. I told dad I would be driving it when I turned 16. He just laughed knowing it needed so much work and the mechanical shape it was in. When I turned 16 though, I was driving it! :) Not after a few hard talkings to though because he found out I was getting it ready behind his back while he was at work and I was home from school. Mainly because he was concerned for my safety. He found out that I had driven it a few blocks one day and all he remembered was the shape it "was" in when he stopped working on it. Very understandable for a concerned parent. When I turned 21, dad gave me the title to the car and starting in 1994, I started a long "on again / off again" restoration and finished it up last December...2006. I will never part from that car as it holds SO many memories.
Sometimes the car that holds memories is not a "classic" or "special" in others eyes (fortunately in my case it was) but for the person who cut their teeth on that particular car or learned to drive in it, or spent numerous hours with friends in it, or cleaning it, ANY car is a classic to some. I definitely understand that and am still very fortunate to have "my" first car with me.
Dad passed away in October of 1994 but left behind a huge garage he himself built which I used to restore my baby along with my brothers 1966 Mustang which I restored in 1996. We both still have these cars and both have been in the family since the early 1970's. I don't think either one of us could ever part with them. Too much family history. Thanks dad for the garage, the Mustangs and the memories!
PS:
I purchased my TA in 1986 and did a partial restoration in 1990 on it. I still need to do the undercarriage and front suspension.
