About CARNUT’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
I have been fascinated with cars as far back as I can remember. While I was a kid, my parents had numerous cars with big V8s. I started driving at 13 in a Jeep out in the back woods of West Virginia.
As a kid, probably the most influential car for me was a 1971 Mustang Mach 1, 429 Cobra Jet with Ram Air, bright red with black hood and interior. That car left such an impression on me that I was forever hooked on muscle cars. That passion only increased as the years went on, I married a mechanic's daughter, and am now building a restoration shop.
Although I prefer many of the Ford muscle cars, I like a lot of different makes and models. I currently have 2 Mustangs, an Oldsmobile Cutlass, and a Dodge truck.
My first car
The first car that I owned is the 1977 Olds Cutlass you see on this page. I still have it.
Car I wish I still had
Two cars actually:
1970 Mustang coupe - I bought this car as a reward to myself for graduating from college. It was red with a black interior, 302 with C4 auto. I added '69 styled steel wheels, full length headers and dual exhaust. I had a ton of fun with the car, never had any mechanical problems, and sold it to help pay for my Mach 1.
1978 Olds Cutlass Supreme Special Edition- this had a factory Hurst Olds style paint scheme in metallic lime green and white. Had a 350 with factory Quadrajet, TH350 trans and posi rear. I have only seen one other like it. Don't know how many were made, but I bet there were very few.
My dream car
Hard to say, depends on what day of the week it is. Here are a few of them:
'65 Shelby GT350 - white w/blue stripes
'67 Shelby GT350 - Brittany Blue w/white stripes
'69 Mustang Boss 302 - Calypso Coral (orange)
'64 Ford Thunderbolt 427 - white
'69 Olds 442 - red
'69 Hurst Olds - white
'69 Camaro RS/SS - blue w/white stripes
'70 Dodge Challenger Hemi - black
'70 Plymouth Cuda AAR - yellow
and the list goes on...
