About me and my passion for cars
It started when I was 7 years old. I use to go over my cousins house (around the block) and he would always be working on one of the family cars. He was 17 then, back in 1975. I use to help by fetching tools and beers. He would always try to teach me about whatever he was doing, one time he showed me how to tear down an alternator and wouldn`t let me leave till I got it back together right, remember I was only 7. Back on Long Island, street racing was pretty popular then, so while turning wrenches,usually on his car, a 68 Olds F-85, he would usually tell me about the cars that him and his friends raced on friday and saturday nights, or the crazy stuff that they did the night before. I think my favorite part was taking the car we were working on for the test ride, AKA "Hell Ride" thru the side streets of our town. At 7, that was more fun than a roller coaster ride. Sometimes he would even let me drive, until I hit a curb or got to close to a parked car, those were penalties you know. After we got back to the house, we would, let me refraze that, " I " would clean up and put the tools away while he gave me crap about putting them in the wrong spots. I did it anyway cause there were beers in it for me, Miller High Life nips, still remember to this day trying to ride my bike home buzzed!! Thanks alot for the memories cuz, R I P.
