- Hey Devilbird, No on the steam engine if it still runs, it will take a considerable amount of work to get back in condition to be able to run. I know that it has a boiler tube that has a leak in it from what I have been told. I will have to have it sonic tested first to tell me the condition of the boiler shell. But in all honesty it looks in faily goo codition for the amount of time that it has sat w/o running. (sum 35 years) The big task will be for me to get to me here in Hugo, OK, it is currently in southern IL where I am originaly from. I've been tyring to get a tractor trailer rig with a drop deck to get hauled back to me. I'll have to have permits to haul it seeing how it will hang over each side of the trailer approx 6" ea. side. Then the fun begins. I guess I myself will need to get educated how how it is suppose to run. That will take me attending some tractor shows that are normally around Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, IL states. I have been talking to a guy who restores these particular steam engines, so I try to stay intouch with him on a web site called "smoke stack". As for my TA (Ramair1), I have soaked alot $$$ into it. and still wish for more. I have in wish list to one day have a big bore LSX block (455 cid) naturally aspirated, that way I can say I have a SD 455 like my big brothers 73 SD's. (ha ha). One day maybe. P.S. one day me and my wife were on our way back from the city and went through Atoka (we were in her white 99 Ramair2) and this corvette (around a 2001 model I think) came up beside us wanting to race. This was at night and I know the vette was dark in color, so we punched it and off we went. It did blow me away but we did manage to stay near the rear bumper for a short while. My wife car is pretty much stock with over 100K on it. at any rate I thought you might know who it was. I keep thinking tyhat I wish I was in Ramair1 and wanted to come back just to see if we could meet up again. Of course my wife the whole time was hollaring me to stop racing you're going to kill us. Yeah right! Shut up, set down, hang on, and enjoy the ride................ Take it easy devilbird and keep the TA looking great.
