About Jonathanrmanion’s Garage

About me and my passion for cars

Oh man i sometimes I think I was born with Racing fuel running through my veins, when i was little my mom had a 1971 Mach 1 with a 302 boss manual(can't remember if it was a 3 or 4 speed mom's was one and dad's was the other), my dad had a 1967 Fastback Gt with a 302 manual (dad's had a 3 or 4 ) and i remember standing up and tellin em to go faster, so they'd gun it and it'd push me back into the seat. So i've always loved fast cars, around about the time i finished hand sanding my first truck my Cousin had a bad ass 1972 ish Gun Metal gray Nova that he got to dip down into the 10 second 1/4 mile and i remember him bringing it over one night with it let me check it out, and when he left n just tagged the gas a bit turnin around and it would almost lift the front tires off the ground seein that , the straight nasty rumble of his car and me working on my truck reignited my passion for cars from a small amber into a full blown obession for anything american with a v8 and sexy body lines.

My first car

My first car was actually a pick up, 1978 F-150 XLT Ranger - single cab long bed that was about three different colors, it was a two tone truck with tan on the top and bottom with a creme vanilla color between the crome down the sides and had odd colored red doors. we called it fred. My dad bought from a second hand dealership in my home town to drive back and forth to work. Had a 400M and a C4 tranny auto column shift. dad drove it for a quite a few years. When my parents got a divorce he drove for a while longer then got a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab Shortbed, and gave me Fred as a gift (around about the time i was 13). Which thankfully he did cause a few months later mom's new car got repo'ed and my truck was the family grocery getter and mom's way to work. But i grew tired of it being muit colored and a friend of the family taught me how to block sand the rust off and cut out the cancer from the wheel wells, we bondo'ed it and reinforced the bondo with chicken wire. smoothed it all out and he showed me how to shoot primer and let paint it all flat black. He said hand sanding would make me appreciate it more and looking back it did. It had straight pipes with some long glass packs, man that thing was gloriously loud! Some of my buddies i ain't seen in years ask me if i still have it, cause i really loved that pick-up. That old truck would fire up when nothing else would, just a few pumps of the gas and it would roar to life. Mom had some headwork done really brought it to life. It was a one wheel wonder but i remember smoking that tire off for an entire block. Mom taught me how to cut kitties in empty parking lots, The whole time my dad had it the radio never worked, and he just figured it didn't work, but one day i felt frisky and torn the radio out and yahoo'd how radios were wired and i'll be damned if it just wasn't hooked up right. So once i got the radio working i had a fever for some serious jams! I wasn't long before the old radio got replaced with a decent pioneer Cd player, upgraded door speakers, 6x9's behind the seat with an amp and two 10" subs! The radio rivaled our home surround system and i loved it! But as all good thing usually get ended one day mom's cousin asked to barrow it for 3 hours so he could move out of a house. Three days later i was jammin out on the computer (we had a bad to the bone surround sound system hooked up to it) and i saw my truck pullin up out back Scott came in and set the keys on the kitchen table and left, as i got up to take my truck for a spin i saw him kickin up gravel leaving, but i didn't think any thing of it since he was kinda awnery anyways. but when i hopped in fred to fire it up , it just made a clank noise...... He had ran it too hard while it was low on oil and F.U.B.A.R. ed my engine! I was super pissed since i was 6 months from driving it to High School. Mom called him and he said he knew of a 351W that he could get us real cheap! Bastard even had the balls to say he "could help put it in",,,, so when we moved to towanda we dragged it with us, but one day i went to school after having a big fight with mom i come home from school to find my truck gone and mom sayin she sold it for 150 bucks! needless to say i miss that truck and i'll forever have a soft spot for 70's ford pick-ups.

Car I wish I still had

My 1978 Ford F-150!

My dream car

That is a hard one, i love all muscle cars, but if i had to try and narrow it down i would say Either a 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 or a 1969 Mach 1

Car clubs I’m in

Haven't joined any yet, but there is one in my home town i'm wanting to join when i get home.

Tinkered with my Chevelle a little bit today

Filed under: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle ((Still thinking on this one))

Decided that since i am never going to put a Vinyl top back on my car i needed to get rid of the studs for the chrome trim! So i clipped em down a bit with hoof clippers, the filed em down a bit more with a hand file, then sanded em down with some sand...
