About me and my passion for cars
I've been driving something with a motor since I was seven, literally. I've driven most anything with wheels including a tractor-trailer for a living. I love Chevy's or at least GM cars. I've had a 53, 55, 58 and broke in my driver license on a 63 Chevy. I've also had a 69 El Camino, 70 Nova and a 72 Chevelle. Now I have the car I've always wanted . . .a Corvette. It's a 90 model with low hp, but it gets up over a hundred real quick. I go to Good Guys shows, Super Chevy shows, whatever is up. There's a drag strip just a few miles from my house and I go when I can. I've practically lived in or under a car. Now I just want to drive 'em. Well, maybe tinker some too, but I want to spend more time with the top off and enjoy the ride.
I have been a model car collector from the age of twelve. Back then I had over 75 on display at any given time. Now I have probably 18-20. I still have a few in the box. My treasured one still in the box is a "70 1/2 Camaro. The best construction of one I have is a late eighties model short bed step-side Chevy pickup I built into a pro street model from a pro street Pontiac kit. I collected ever Impala model I could find. It's a relaxing hobby, but I've been side tracked by blogging my autobiography as of last fall.
My first car
'53 Chevy. Loved that car.
Car I wish I still had
'55 BelAir with 327 Corvette motor and M22 4 spd. It also had a polished Edelbrock dual plane intake, 750 Holley double pumper, Mallory dual point ignition, The motor was bored .30 over. My last project upgrade was air shocks and traction bars.
My dream car
NEW ZR1 Corvette.
Car clubs I’m in
After the Toy Run 09 aboard New River Air Station Marine Corps I met members from four different clubs. All of these folks were really great to be around and I enjoyed their company. They were from New Bern, Jacksonville, Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach SC. There were over 100 Corvettes at this event.
