About XA351GT’s Garage

About me and my passion for cars

I like most here grew up in a car family. Everyone has always thought of a car more than just transportation. I grew up with matchbox cars and the very first Hot Wheels.
In 1980 my life changed when at 16 I saw Mad Max . I knew one day some how I'd have one. 20 years later enter the internet and I found a way to get what is a car exclusive to Australia and New Zealand here in the US. Little did I know that there were many like minded car nuts that were in love with the cars. Together we formed the Australian Ford Falcon Club at Yahoo Groups. We have members in Australia,New Zealand, South Africa,UK, Canada and all over the US. In 2003 at Ford's 100th celebration in Dearborn we brought 26 Aussie Falcons to the show. Ranging from bone stock to restomod to Mad Max to Race car replicas we had everything there. The cars were a huge hit with the spectators as well with Ford itself which included us in the their Official event video. We were one of only 2 clubs mentioned by name and featured, the other was the Model T club. To our surprise Edsal Ford who was running Ford Oz when these cars were being built contacted one of Australia's racing legends, John Goss and invited him over to be with us. This is a highlight of my life as he was as nice a person as one could imagine. He seemed genuinely impressed in how we absorbed everything that had to do with the cars including the racing history. I was also fantastic to see the pride in his face when he saw not one ,but 2 cars that were built in honor of his 1974 win at Bathurst . There were only 260 of the Goss specials built in 1975 ,so for him to travel to the US and see HIS cars was very special.
Although I have owned mostly Fords I appreciate all brands , especially the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. As a kid and watching my older brother and his buddies bring by some truly awesome cars and my Dad being a major car buff it was impossible not to be car crazy. My Grand father was car crazy which rubbed off on my Mom. So it was a real family affair.

Enthusiast Groups

Logo for Automobile Modelers of Motortopia

Many of us were first exposed to the automotive hobby by building car models as kids. As the years went by, scale models usually gave way to "Real" cars... But for a select few of us, the urge to build our dream cars in scale still survives. This group is for us: The motorheads who take our...

TWO GREAT CARS. BOTH WINNERS. WHAT A GREAT CHALLENGE IT TURNED OUT TO BE. IF IT WERE A HORSE RACE, YOU COULD SAY "WOW" WON BY A NOSE AT THE TAPE.
