About me and my passion for cars

My Dad is your typical (self-described) small town grease monkey, so I have gasoline running through my veins. I had my first car by the time I was 12, and was driving it around our place within a month - My Dad and I had to pull out the worn-out straight 6 and worn-out automatic tranny and put in a rebuilt (by me!) 350 with a 4-speed conversion. By the time I could drive it on the road (legally! lol!), I had restored the body and interior bhy myself as well.

While I was in high school, my sister had a friend with an old VW Bug that she wanted to restore and she thought that I might be able to help. Over the next year or so, we worked on that old VW every chance we got, and by the time we were done with it, it was a showpiece. She still has it: She became my wife a few years later! She's on Motortopia too - her screen name is Smurphette and her Bug is called Papa Smurph.
