About formula71’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
From the time I was old enough to tote tools, I was helping dad with whatever he was working on. The house, cars, woodworking, etc.
I learned to drive a 67 Mustang. It is a fastback, 289, automatic, that my father custom ordered and still owns. The first ticket I got was in that car, for excessive noise. Got caught downshifting at an intersection with burned out glasspacks.
One day a 71 Formula Firebird appeared at the house. Dad had gone looking for an inexpensive car for my sister and I to drive. I loved that car. 400, 4-speed, posi. Dad told me a few years ago that that probably wasn't the best choice for 2 teenage girls.
My first car was a 70 Camaro with a 350 and an automatic. It was cheap, but needed a paint job in the worst way. But it couldn't hold a candle to the Firebird.
A few years later I convinced dad to sell me the Firebird, and still have it.
My first car
1970 Camaro. Bought it because dad wasn't ready to sell me the Firebird.
My dream car
Not sure that I'd call it my dream car, but my planned next car will be a 1st gen convertible Firebird, pro-touring style.

Don't Challenge UNDERDOGS!
Enthusiast
Too many times, especially when there's a prize at stake, members try for "The Easy Win" by challenging cars that just aren't comparable to their own. For instance, a Mustang GT against a Honda Civic 4-door. That challenge is what made me want to start this group. Sure, the Mustang can out do the...
