About lowcountryman’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
My love affair started when I was real young (6-7). My Dad use to set me in his lap and I would steer the car. One day I got to where I could reach the pedals and steer and the family ride was in for a real adventure from then on. I was a school bus driver by age 13 in South Carolina. My Dads family had a large farm, so, there was lots with wheel to afford me my pleasures in the wheels department. I remember partaking in the male role of rebuilding engines as early as 8-9 yrs old. I've had so many cars and M/C over my 63 years that Donald Trump would have to house them if I had keep them all. I am a car Nut and darn proud of this love affair. Some of my women haven't always shared my view points, but, maybe that is why I'm on my 3rd wife (23 years with this one, maybe she is a keeper)(Hope so, I'm getting to old to train new ones). Hope when you see me coming down the road you enjoy what I'm driving as much as I do driving her.
My first car
1950 Chevy 2 dr Bel Air, modified with a 265 V8 and 3 on tree. Raced the devil out of that great car, as well as many that followed over th years as a Southern Calif. teen growing up in the 50 & 60's.
Car I wish I still had
Z-16 Malibu (396) Yellow with Black V. Top and Black interior (4 Speed on floor).
Uncle owned a dealership and delivered it to me and my 1st cousin when we got home from Viet Nam in 65 (nice surprise). Wrecked it later on while racing some northern Calif. boys on Green Spot Rd.(we won)
My dream car
Every car I've had was a Dream Car of some sort to me. They all have been strong in my heart and mind for what they provided at the time. If I had to select one? Well? My mind goes to West Coast racing Days and making the big Show with sponsorship to ride to Victory. # 21 lives with me still, Chevelle I Raced on the Tracks.
