About mvlgomer’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
Since I really couldn't afford a car in High School, I took no automotive classes and really didn't get involved with cars when I was younger. Once I became involved with Vanning, that all changed! With a lot of help, I have done more with engines and vehicles than I ever imagined. I met my wife through the van club, (she had been involved for several years prior to me, we've been married over 10 years now). I rebuilt her engine and swapped it into another van (again, with lots of help). I do most of the work on my own van now when I can, and am not afraid to tackle stuff I didn't even know needed to be done before! In addition to my involvement with Midwest Vans Ltd., I have also become a member of the group that runs the national winter convention for the vanning world, the Council of Councils Board. My role there is to encourage and direct seminars and educational programs related to vanning at that convention. I have become thoroughly immersed in vanning and couldn't be happier. (unless I found a way to make a living at it maybe. How does that saying go, do what you love and love what you do? ) Well, it won't pay the bills right now, but in the future, who knows! In the meantime, I need a taller garage. None of our vans will fit!
My first car
My first licensed vehicle was a 70cc 1971 Honda Scooter (man it was fun!) One cylinder-65mph! 1st car was a '73 Pontiac Le Mans with a 350 engine & no options (not even a stereo, had to cut new holes for radio & speakers!). No joke, purchased from a little old lady who only drove it to the store & back. 43k original miles at purchase in 1987! 1st Van was a 1971 Ford E-250 with a 302 & 3-on-the-tree because I needed a place to live!
Car I wish I still had
I used to wish I still had the Le Mans, but Vans have become so important to me that I have gotten over the regret of losing it. It would be cool to get the scooter back though. I sold it to a friend who may still have it, if I can track down the friend!
My dream car
I would love to build a ' 76-' 79 Ford E-350 power hardtop convertible van! Any volunteers to help?
