By gasser1957

A big thanks to my bud Eddie he made this job go a lot quicker

one resister

By gasser1957

So this is what one ballist resistor looks like.Nice clean wire job also. This is as close to a plug and play installation as it comes

clean cluster

By gasser1957

All new lights in the dash and new connections.this kit is awsome.

looking better

By gasser1957

So this is what it should look like behind the dash

No turning back

By gasser1957

Well wish me luck because theres no turning back now. Stay tuned in the next few days I'll run the back harness. Thats the great thing about this wire kit it comes packaged in sections.

What have I done

By gasser1957

Well this is what it looks like when you pull all the wires out of your car.

Rear wires

By gasser1957

This is a shot looking up at the tail light wires.Remember before you get under there and start tugging put on some safety glasses

Something old something new

By gasser1957

Here's the new tail light wires setting next to the old ones. To get to them to unplug them from the housing you go from under the car. Just pull off the old rubber and twist like you would a bulb.

rear body wires

By gasser1957

The rear body wires run up the drivers side kick panel under the door sill to the back. After you pull up the sill there's a cover that unscrews to get to the wires. Then it runs under the rear seat to the trunk as pictured.

ballast resistor #3

By gasser1957

Wait there's one hidden under the dash. With my new American auto wire harness I will have one ballast resistor going from power to coil.

ballast resistor #2

By gasser1957

That must be all of them

ballast resistor #1

By gasser1957

How many do you need?

Rats nest

By gasser1957

The only thing this rats nest is missing is the rat.50 year old wires behind the dash. No wonder none of my lights or gauges worked. What a mess.

5 circuits

By gasser1957

This is what the stock fuse block looks like. Maybe it's time for an update. With running an electric fuel pump, electric cooling fan,and stereo I'm just asking for a fire.

American autowire

By gasser1957

Stay tuned for an American autowire installation on my 57 Chevy gasser. Can a normal car guy install this kit hassle free?I'll post a step by step blog with pictures and let you know how it goes.
