Q:     I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze LT. I bought it brand new and had zero problems until it hit 6,000 miles. I was making a 3 hour trip and noticed that my steering had a slight jerk. The steering wheel acted as if it had a spot to snap into and then it would snap back out. It would slightly jerk to the left or right and then it would straighten back out. The car didn't move at all, just the steering wheel.

Once I got into OKC I noticed that the steering wheel would then stick and I would have to move the wheel to "unlock" it. I've taken it into the shop, since I'm covered bumper to bumper, and they found zero problems. After I got the car back a few days later, I noticed that it had started doing the same thing. Also, I noticed that the wheel only does this when I'm going over 55 mph. I took the car back to the shop when I noticed it, today, and had one of the shop guys test drive it.

The only thing that he seemed to notice was that the car would veer a little to the left or right and when you went to straighten the car back out the steering would be a little loose and then it would quit. If anyone has any idea or if you have a Cruze that's doing something similar, please let me know!!! Also, I know about the recall and the dealership checked and I have no recalls out on my car. Thanks!

A:    Without looking at the vehicle, I would have to guess that either something is getting stuck when you turn the wheel or it could be in the computer to the car as the steering is controlled electronically on newer vehicles or the i-beam which is what connects your steering wheel to the parts that turn the car.

Without looking at the vehicle, I would have to guess that either something is getting stuck when you turn the wheel or it could be in the computer to the car as the steering is controlled electronically on newer vehicles or the i-beam which is what connects your steering wheel to the parts that turn the car. It really sounds like something is getting in the way of the wheels turning. It is really hard to say for sure without looking at it. It could be any number of things.

Take a look under the car to see if there is anything noticeable in the wheel area that doesn't look like its supposed to be there. Other then that you could try another shop. Dealerships aren't the greatest especially when its warranty work. I have had a few problems with them with my 2006 Cobalt. I don't take my car to the dealer anymore even though it is still under warranty. It is better to pay more and get it done right in my opinion. I hope this helps some.
