About hotrodbob’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
Thank you taking the time to read the following information.
I am life long automotive enthusiast. I have built vehicles that gained prominence in automotive magazines and books such as Petersen’s Complete Book of Fords, Complete Book of Vans and Pick-ups, Complete Book of Paint and Body. Ray Miller’s Nifty Fifty Fords, Legendary Ford Magazine and others. I have also been involved in activities as a driver/builder in Sports car racing (SCCA & FCCA, Champion C/Prod. FCCA.), NHRA, VRA, NDRA, ANRA, AHRA Drag Racing and circle track racing (Announcer/Advertising), Kart racing (Sprint kart 100cc).
Won the Sweepstakes award at the R.G. Canning Championship Car shows, Import Division. Completed various restorations and have been quoted in car buff journals for my views and insight into the hobby and sport of car racing, collecting, rodding, etc.
I entered the auto industry as many young men did by working in gas stations when in high school. My first job out of college was that of a high school auto shop instructor. I brought my racing and rodding experience into the classroom and gave a new twist to high school auto shop (1974-77).
My racing activities lead me to positions as a motor sports writer for a local newspaper and Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. I am or have been an announcer for Motocross racing, Drag Bike, NHRA, Goodguys-VRA, NDRA, ANRA, Antique Nationals and various racetracks and sanctioning bodies across the country as well as Drag racing videos and TV/radio broadcasts of many events worldwide. I traveled with the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association for 13 years and though no longer based at Los Angeles County Raceway (1977-1997) I still announce select NHRA events such as the California Hot Rod Reunion, March Meet and each week at Toyota Drag Strip at Irwindale as well as others. I was one of the early members of the NHRA Announcers Guild.
I have been an active member of the Road Kings of Burbank car club for over 20 years and held position as a club officer (Pres., V.P., Secr.) for much of that time. This club has gained prominence due to its notable members such as, Don Prudhomme, Tommy Ivo, Bob Muravez (aka: Floyd Lippencott Jr.), Kenny Safford, Jimmy Miles and others. I am the co-founder and past President of the So. Cal. Falcon Chapter of the (Ford) Falcon Club of America.
I have over 30 successful years of growth and responsibility working on the OEM side of the automotive industry beginning with BMW (1978-82), NISSAN (1982-90),, Isuzu Commercial truck of America (1994-2010). And currently with The Automobile Club of So.Cal. as the regional representative for their collector car program.
To review how I can be an asset to your organization, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
