About lilcbra’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
It all started for me when I was just a little guy. Dad would be working on whatever he felt the need to work on, and there I would be, handing wrenches, holding plugs, whatever I "needed" to do to help. When I was about 9, mom and dad divorced. One weekend, my dad had come to take my brother and I for the weekend, and he was driving a Mustang II Ghia. I remember it being red with a white vinyl top, and I think it was only a 4 cylinder, but that wasn't the most memorable part of it. He took us to the local shopping mall parking lot where they had plowed all the snow up to the light posts. He then proceeded to take a run at the snowbanks, hit one, and take the little Mustang onto 2 wheels. There I sit, against the door, telling myself that I have to have one of these. That was when my Mustang "fever" started.
My dad was killed a couple years later by a drink driver. The 55 wagon was left to me when he got killed. I haven't done too much with it. I pulled the 327 4 speed that my dad had put in it to find it too far gone to do anything with. Other than that, I have been kinda leary of what to do with it. I didn't know how to do this car in honor of my dad, yet make it my own. I had a talk with my uncle one day not too long ago about what my dad would probably want now, and I am pretty much going in that direction when funds allow. The drawing represents what it will be some day. It will be in that almost electric blue that Dodge used on the Rams and Dakotas a few years back. That color just really catches my eye.
My first car
1978 Mustang with a v-6. 2nd car was an 88 Ford Festiva. 3rd was a 77 Mustang Coupe. 4th was a 78 Mustang Hatchback. 5th was another 77 coupe. Getting the picture? :-) Actually, my very first car was a 55 Chevy 2 door wagon which my dad left me when he passed.
Car I wish I still had
I had an orange 75 Mach I. The only II I really regret getting rid of....
My dream car
To have my 55 done.

- You sure do not see very many Mustang IIs around anymore, not even at the all Mustang shows, which is really too bad. I'm a child of the seventies so I guess I will always have a bit of fondness for the little Mustang (plus by best friend's older brother had one when I was a teenager back then).
By the way, sorry to hear what happened with your father......keep him in your memories and make him proud!!
