About marcar1993’s Garage

About me and my passion for cars

It started before I was born, even before my dad was born. My grandfather was a mechanicle engineer and took care of his cars as he did his tools. To quote him "If you take care of your tools, they'll take care of you."
My dad grew up with this, and when he saw the car he grew up with about to be junked, took it from his parents and peice by peice put it back together.
When I was born, I came home in his 1960 Plymouth Savoy (the car he saved). I don't even remember the first time i went to a car show, my mom says I was about 3 months old. I don't remember my first time in the garage, but it was a very short time after I could walk.
This isnt a hobby to me, it's a lifestyle. It's deeper than even I can imagine. I have never lived without this hobby, and I know I couldn't.

My first car

My "first car" started when my grandma got sick and I started taing care of her 1991 Plymouth Acclaim and her 1972 Plymouth Satellite Wagon. When I got my liscence I was to get her Acclaim for my everyday car, and I kind of adopted the wagon. So at the age of 9, I "got my 2 first cars".
I started hot rodding the wagon, but finally (and thankfully) learned to leave the 30 something all original car alone. I figured I needed another car to pay with. After a lot of convincing, my dad said ok to an 11 year old buying a car. I was looking for a mopar, but by this time, their prices had gone into the stratasphere.
2 years later. I was taking a ride with my grandpa and saw a 1987 Cutlass for sale for $500. I stopped and looked it over. Came home and told my dad. The next day I came back with him to look it over. It had been wrecked, fixed and sold, then the right side was driven down. Then the radiator blew and he was selling it because he was sick of sinking money into this for a daily driver. I knew I wanted it, so I told the guy I'd call him no later than the next monday (Exactly a week) if I could get the money together. I scrounged up $500 and called the guy about mid week and set up to take the car home the next monday. (The deadline to tell him if I wanted it).
We showed up with 5 gallons of water, filled the radiator and drove it 2 miles home, April 23, 2007.

Car I wish I still had

I never sold a car yet, and don't plan to.

This is a place for 4door and wagon owners to get to know each other and show that these vehicles can be and are cool cars! Some car shows have started having classes for these vehicles and I would like to see more event promoters reconize these vehicles.
