About mgoldman’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
I am a Viet Nam Veteran and was in the war zone in 1967- 1968. I was in the US Navy on the USS Mauna Loa, which was an Ammunition Ship. Our job was to transport and rearm Carriers, Cruisers and Destroyers with shells, bombs and missiles so they could provide support to our troops. I lost a lot of very good friends over there so when I go to car shows I honor them with my car by displaying the American and the POW Flag. I also have Viet Nam Veteran plates on my car and Thank God every day that I made it back.
When I came back from Nam in 1968 my Dad and Mom had socked away money that I sent home to them and gave it to me to buy my 1st Pontiac...a 1968 Firebird with a 350. I loved that car and kept it for ten years, Unfortunately I couldn't afford to put it away in the winter and the salt of Upstate New York finally did her in.
I am really a Cowboy at heart and If I had my choice I would live out West in Wyoming on a big ranch where I could ride all day and sleep under the stars at night. I owned a Quarter-horse named Cody for several years, but did not have enough property to keep him myself so it got very expensive and my love of 1 Horsepower spilled over to my 1986 Trans Am with 420 HP. Although it is not the same I have met a lot of people and made a lot of great friends.
I have put a lot of caring and love into my 1986 as I hope it is apparent to all who see her. She does get put up in the Winter and I keep her as spotless as possible. When I first found her she was an ex Pace Car at one of our tracks and was a dark blue metallic with silver ground effects. Her hood had a NASCAR look with "America's Favorite Sport" and a crossed American and Finish Flag on her hood. That is how I found her and kept her for several years.
Now she is an Ice Blue with Pearl Dust in the clear coat and has "Ghost Flames" running from the rear of her front fenders over her doors. I have made countless modifications and I'm very lucky to have had great friends who had the talent to help make her into what she is today. I have an album of pictures, but I will be adding more so that you can see the extent and detail that has been put into her. I hope that you will enjoy what you see.
