66' Chevelle SS Resto Phase 3: "Got Realfire???"

By monkeewrench

Hi All,

Paint is almost near completion on my Chevelle project. It is always amazing to see a car come back from paint, transformed with High Solids Clear applied.... Especially when it is YOURS and it is a 66' Chevelle SS! I will now turn the corner and once I get it back from paint, will finally stuff the motor and trans back in it, at last!!! Damn, they make it look so easy on TV!!!

Dan Brown is a local artist/painter here in Central Oregon and does Harleys, rods, customs. He got me addicted to his version of real fire flames when he did my snowmobile last winter. He came up with the idea of some intesely cool stuff on the paint, but you are going to have to wait to see the whole deal until I get it back, but here is a few of the pictures he sent along the way. There will also be Youtube videos of my car as he is painting it, stay tuned.

~If anyone needs paintwork done very high quality, very reasonable, Dan is looking for more projects, let me know, I will send you contact info. He does Harleys, customs, completes, details, realfire, you name it! Yeah, he kicks ass!

~Starting back in on the Chevelle!!! "Phase 2"

I met a killer painter named Dan. He shot the hood of my snowmobile black with realfire... The man is gifted and sprays mean realfire!!! -One thing led to another, we talked about projects, 401K's... He basically summed it up: "Muscle cars are appreciating at around 18% compounded continuously and how is that 401K doing? Under 10K is not really enough to retire and the way 401K's are losing money, why not put it in the car and get that thing finished???" -"Um, Yeah!!! Heck YEAH!!!!" -So I cashed the focker out, trailered it over to his shop this past Monday. -Going all black with realfire on the hood, dash, back panel and a trace inside too. I just located a 12 bolt posi with 4.10's on cracklist for $1,200 bucks... Not sure about that, but I WANT IT! Once I get it back from paint, can start putting it back together at last!!! The motor and tranny have been done for 7 years and they just sit in the garage! I started this in 2000, so yeah, I am stoked!!! -Stay tuned Will be posting some pics of it on the trailer on the way to paint, WAHOOO!!!!

Cool 1955 Willys!!!

By monkeewrench

This is my latest project that I don't have ca$h to do much with, but it is awesome. Basically a mint 1955 Willys CJ5A with a V-8 Chevy small block in it. I am going to swap out the 525 gears with something more streetable so I can drive over 40mph on the highway. Until I get some cash I am just going to murder it flat black, get it running. Thanks for checking it out!!!

-Locked at 5%!!!

By monkeewrench

-Nothing to do with cars, except houses have garages for cars...

-Anyway, lending rates dropped again yesterday and my mortgage tycoon nab hounded me once more. I have less than fantastic credit and was still able to lock in and refi the house on a 30-year fixed at 5%!!! Down from 6.65% which wasn't bad, but over a point and a half warrants a killer savings, well worth the closing costs!!!

If anyone is thinking about doing a refi / "personal bailout" I can't reccomend it enough, get on it ASAP!

-Happy Holidays Everyone!

-REFUSE NEW COINS!!!

By monkeewrench

This simple action will make a strong statement.

U.S.Government to Release New Dollar Coins

Please help do this.. Refuse to accept these when they are handed to you.

I received one from the Post Office as change and I asked for a dollar bill instead.

The lady just smiled and said 'way to go' , so she had read this e -mail.

Please help out...our world is in enough trouble without this too!!!!!

You guessed it
'IN GOD WE TRUST' IS GONE!!! (-From the face, now on the side in fine print, s'up with that?)
If ever there was a reason to boycott something, THIS IS IT!!!!

DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE

Together we can force them out of circulation.

Blazemo' Facelift Chapter 2

By monkeewrench

Well,

I really need to stay off Cracklist, er' I mean Craigslist.... Turns out a guy here in Bend had a NICE 6" lift for sale. I call him up and we talked a while. He started with the 4" lift, then got the 6" and ran that on his truck for 3 years, then got an 8". .. Told me he wished he would have just gone from zero to 8"... -Beyond the 6" threshold, you have to lower the transfer case and do a bunch of other mods. I really just need 6" to clear the 37" tires and I am golden I decided. Bought the 6" springs for the front from him and am buying the rear set new. Posted the 4" lift for sale on Cracklist...

-Stay tuned

Blazemo Facelift... Here Goes... Chapter One!

By monkeewrench

Starts out with killer deal on a set of rims from a guy at work for cheap... -Couldn't pass it up. They sell for hundreds more new... -Sound familiar??? Anyway, couldn't find any used 18" tires to go with the used 18" rims... Until I scored the 37" TOYO MT's for $75 on Craigslist. Horse traded the rims I didn't need for a 4" suspension lift that just happens to fit my 72' Blazer. Not sure if the steering knuckle will work once I put the front springs on. May have to go to the extended type knuckle... Definitely have to swap out and roll the new 4" extended Superlift Nitro 8000 shocks. No way in Heck are the 37" tires gonna go on without lifting that front end... May even have to do a body lift, but hope not!!!

Shocks came in Friday, got the springs. Now all I need is a few hours and a nice big floor jack, some stands and I'll have Blazemo' rolling on 37's with a 4" lift. (Yeah right!!!) My projects never go that smooth, but I keep on keepin' on anyway and eventually I will get er' done!!!

Stay tuned...
