Pavement-Stomping Muscle Cars Tearing it up in Tennessee

The weekend of May 20-22 marked the 6th annual Goodguys Rod & Custom Association Nashville Nationals. Held at LP Field inside the Tennessee Titan stadium, more than 1,500 muscle cars, classic trucks and hot rods filled the grounds for some impressive eye candy. Heart-stopping horsepower rumbled through the show as attendees cruised the grounds and exhaust pulsed the asphalt. (more…)

Springtime in San Diego can Only Mean one Thing—Goodguys Del Mar!

April 1-3, 2011, brought the Goodguys to Del Mar, California, for the 11th annual Del Mar Nationals. When I received the Goodguys’ show schedule in the mail, I marked my calendar for the Del Mar show so that I wouldn’t accidentally book anything else. I’d guess by the number of cars in attendance that a lot of people did the same thing I did. (more…)

Showing Its Support for Nova Enthusiasts

It is no big secret that Total Cost Involved Engineering (TCI) started out making products for street rods. But it didn’t take the company long to decide that there was a need for its high-quality chassis components in the muscle car end of the pool, as well. One of the first muscle car families it tackled was the Chevy II/Nova and before the first parts were ready TCI was getting calls for them on a daily basis. (more…)

All the Greats Invade Pomona, California

It’s called the Grandaddy of Them All, and this year’s Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS) proved once again that it is truly the greatest hot rod show of the season. Held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, on Jan. 28-30, 2011, the GNRS has seen its share of venues. From Oakland to San Francisco to the Fairplex, it has remained the premier event of the season, and one still shrouded by a distinct mystique. (more…)

Hotchkis’ New Home

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

You had to get there early to get a spot because the parking lot reached maximum capacity before the event was even scheduled to begin.

Proof That They Sure Can Throw a Party

The name John Hotchkis might be familiar to you. After all, he spent more than 20 years racing on the IMSA and SCCA circuits for companies like Wynn’s Oil. Like most successful race car drivers, their ability to give feedback to their crew chief about how a car handles at speed is invaluable to a race team efforts. John had a talent for this, and after he retired he decided to open a performance suspension manufacturing facility that caters to a clientele in search of handling excellence, or how John likes to put it, “horsepower for your suspension.”

Due to their success, John and his staff needed to expand their operations to a larger building. The search took some time, but their patience paid off when they found the perfect building right down the street from the old building that would help assuage their recent growing pains.

To celebrate such a great find, and taking the opportunity show off the new digs, John decided to throw an open house so the public could get an inside look at where some of the finest suspension parts are made right in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Highlights of the event included tech talks on Hotchkis suspension systems, raffle prizes, installation demonstrations and a complimentary lunch. John opened the event with a presentation on Hotchkis products, and the recent formation of the H-Team, an exclusive group of drivers that run Hotchkis Total Vehicle systems. Members of the H-Team also spoke and answered questions about their own projects. Members of the Southern California Super Sport club showed their support by bringing out a great display of GM muscle.

All and all, we had had our fill on lunch and a great time, talking to many new friends and visiting with some old, familiar faces. We were also very impressed with the turnout of vehicles, the staff, the quality of products and the great-looking facility. If you would like to learn more about the Hotchkis line of products, check out (http://www NULL.hotchkis, or give them a call at 888.735.6425.

Chicago! The Midwest’s international hub for commerce, culture and finance. The Windy City, or Chi-Town–as it is known– is also home to some of the best sports teams in the majors, including the Chicago Hawks, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Bears. And now the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, or to be more specific, Rosemont’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center is host to the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals, one of the most prestigious indoor muscle car enthusiast events in the nation. (more…)

Throttle-Stompin’, Gear-Bangin’, Corner-Carvin’ Mayhem at Adams Motorsports Park

Monday, May 16th, 2011

In today’s world of high performance muscle cars it’s not enough to go fast in a straight line. To hang with the big boys you need to be able to hammer through the hairpins and carve the corners. Several suspension and brake companies have tuned their products toward that effort. There is simply nothing like pounding on the skinny pedal and shaking your fist at the shifter as you throttle your way through a curvy asphalt playground. (more…)

The 13th Annual Southwest Nationals

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

All of those snowbirds have the right idea: There is a time to be somewhere in this great country of ours, but is has to be the right time. One of the prettiest sites is the Valley of the Sun area of Phoenix, but not at the height of summer. That’s why the Goodguys hold their Southwest Nationals in November (19-21, 2010, to be exact) at the gigantic WestWorld complex in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’s one Phoenix-area show that we always hit. An Overdose of Nostalgia Filled the Air – The 17th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

This mighty Mopar yanks ‘em high and reaches for the sky, demonstrating just how much bite was available on the Famoso starting line.

Fortunately, the price of gas was coming down, but so was the economy, however, that didn’t keep diehard gearheads from finding their way over Southern California’s “Grapevine” going north toward Kern County, where all roads lead to legendary Auto Club Famoso Raceway and the 17th California Hot Rod Reunion. Holiday Hot Rodding – The 2008 John Force Racing Holiday Car Show

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

It was the morning of Dec. 7, and all through Yorba Linda, California, many hot rods and muscle cars were stirring and roaring aloud. Exhaust notes pierced the air and tires screeched as participants made their way to the annual John Force Holiday Car Show sponsored by System One and held at the amazing headquarters of John Force Racing. The event’s purpose was as a benefit toy drive for California Highway Patrol’s CHIPs for Kids. Admission was an unwrapped toy to provide Christmas presents for those less fortunate. (more…)
