Springtime in San Diego can Only Mean one Thing—Goodguys Del Mar!

April 1-3, 2011, brought the Goodguys to Del Mar, California, for the 11th annual Del Mar Nationals. When I received the Goodguys’ show schedule in the mail, I marked my calendar for the Del Mar show so that I wouldn’t accidentally book anything else. It is no big secret that Total Cost Involved Engineering (TCI) started out making products for street rods. But it didn’t take the company long to decide that there was a need for its high-quality chassis components in the muscle car end of the pool, as well. Based on the Challenger SRT-8, the Mr. Norm’s 426 Hemi Challenger and 426 Hemi ‘Cuda Convertibles echo the styling and performance of the original, iconic, E-body muscle cars that inspired the creation of these vehicles. A 700-Plus Horsepower Pavement-Pounding Mustang Tribute

People build all-out pavement-shredding muscle cars for all sorts of different reasons. Some build them because they’ve always dreamt of owning one in high school and years later they finally have the financial ability to do so. Some do it as a status symbol and some do it just to be able to command a bunch of horsepower and experience the pin-your-back to the seat torque. But what about building a muscle car for a completely unselfish reason altogether? Building tribute vehicles to honor our American heroes that fight for our freedom is nothing new, but each project dedicated to the efforts and sacrifices of our young soldiers is a testament to how truly awesome their work is.
