Holiday Hot Rodding – The 2008 John Force Racing Holiday Car Show

It was the morning of Dec. 7, and all through Yorba Linda, California, many hot rods and muscle cars were stirring and roaring aloud. Exhaust notes pierced the air and tires screeched as participants made their way to the annual John Force Holiday Car Show sponsored by System One and held at the amazing headquarters of John Force Racing. The event’s purpose was as a benefit toy drive for California Highway Patrol’s CHIPs for Kids. Admission was an unwrapped toy to provide Christmas presents for those less fortunate. (more…)

Short Trip – Short Throw Manual Shifter Install

The Pro 5.0 shifter is a complete, bulletproof shifter system that bolts to the stock transmission. First remove shifter handle and boot bezel.One of the most common upgrades to any performance vehicle is to install a short throw shifter in place of the stock unit. A short throw shifter will make it easier to shift between gears because there will be less travel shift throw. “Shift throw” refers directly to the actual travel of the shifter stick, which affects the time it takes to shift from one gear to another. In a performance situation, the additional moments a factory stock shifter takes to go from one gear to another can result in slower elapsed times, or just a sluggish feeling when driving around town. A short throw shifter eliminates that sluggish feeling in a daily driver, and gives the racer an extra edge. (more…)

The Find – Roland’s 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Father’s Day Present

Roland Ball of Plano, Texas, sure knows how to have a great Father’s Day. It was in June 2002 when he first saw and fell in love with this unique 1968 Shelby GT500 KR. Roland’s good friend, Jeff Goodlove, discovered this exceptional car in a storage garage. Jeff had taken his father out just to look around for some old cars when he happened to find this Raven Black Shelby. Jeff asked the owner of the garage if he could take a peek at what was under the cover. When he saw the Shelby, he immediately thought of his friend Roland who had expressed more than once his love for that year and model of Shelby. (more…)
