It's alive!!!!!

By outlaw_fan

After a rough summer of sitting and hardly seeing day light the Roadrunner has been getting a bunch of new parts and getting tuned up. Something did the trick and she now has power! Still a long way to go but she can move now and cruise. Already have 3 cruises under our belt with cold weather still lurking. New Motor mounts, leaf springs, and u-bolts coming up this week.
She use to die a lot at stop signs and what not. that problem is gone. turn signals didnt work. they do now. Timing was way off. set and good now. old battery that didn't fit the tray is gone. New Mopar battery in place. Old valve covers gone and replaced with black Mopar valve covers. New plugs put in. New wires to be added soon. Im sure im forgetting more but the point is she is cruise ready!

boring summer comes to an end

By outlaw_fan

the old 340 is hurt and weak so we had a very boring summer as far as the roadrunner is concerned. This winter that all should change. After Christmas the plan is to rebuild the 340 and hit the road strong next summer.

new exhaust

By outlaw_fan

I had a little bit of $ saved up and my mechanic was busy so i went and put new exhaust on the car. Replaced the Flowmaster with 2 18 inch glass packs. The car sounds like a beast now. I love it. The neighbors don't but oh well ;) I will post a before and after video someday.

decal question

By outlaw_fan

I need to replace the front Roadrunner decal. It is on chrome. How do i safely take it off?

I have a question for the mechanics

By outlaw_fan

i just had new valve covers put on my 72 340. i thought that would fix my oil leak (i'm not a mechanic) but it doesn't. it still spits oil out on the new covers. A guy at the local parts store told me that it would keep doing it unless i get pcv valve and line to the air filter or carb. Do i really need to do that or can i just replace the old broke filter (already done) and the air breather cap? If thats what it is called.

here is a pick of the OLD covers and you can see the air breather cap or whatever it is called.

Cherry Bombs

By outlaw_fan

i was just thinking about changing the exhaust up a little more before the warm weather gets here. I have always liked the sound of glasspacks when your haulin ass down the road and you jump off the throttle and decent glasspacks will really talk to you. so i was wondering if anyone else has Cherry Bombs and do they sound GREAT when you do this?

Hooker vs Hedman headers

By outlaw_fan

i'm wanting to buy some headers for the Roadrunner but i don't know if saving $40 with the hedman headers is worth it. whats everyones opinion?

Engine clean up.

By outlaw_fan

getting ready to put in an order to summit for MOPAR valve covers, Hookers headers, MOPAR cast air cleaner, engine dress up bolt set with the MOPAR "M" on them and of course a couple of a couple of gaskets. All for the Roadrunner. I can't wait.

fixing it up

By outlaw_fan

the car has a list of things that needs to be fixed. The air filter was filthy and rusted? So i replaced it with a K&N (of course). The plugs were rusted and just filthy. So i replaced 7 out 8 of those with Champion plugs. A couple days later and a lot of cussing i finally got the last one out. It was stuck behind the rusted headers. I have also replaced the plug wires since one of them laid on the headers and had a hole in it. I figured it wasn't working right so I replaced them and put a heat shield on that new plug wire. It runs so much better now and not to mention sounds a lot better too :)
up next i am replacing the distributor cap and i have a bad air shock on the left rear and the master cylinder is leaking. Then on to the little oil leak and new valve covers.

New wheels

By outlaw_fan

I got my new American Racing wheels put on yesterday. i think the car looks so much better now. I'm really glad i had the extra money to change them.

A dream come true

By outlaw_fan

Friday morning me and my better half set out on the road to go buy a 1972 Plymouth Road Runner. I have always wanted a classic Mopar. You hear people say things like that all the time but i did something about it and got me one. I didn't know what Mopar i wanted when i started looking. I found a 73 Charger to a Plymouth station wagon. :)
So i stumbled across an add for a 72 Plymouth Road Runner in Chicago. Looked it over and decided i would go after it. He started out wanting $7500. I had him talked down to $7000. My problem was selling my Dakota R/T. 3 weeks and many sleepless nights later he was down to $5500. Then finally someone came to get my truck. 2 long days later we were on the road to fullfil a long time dream of mine. To own a classic Mopar.
I have always wanted something that turned heads and get compliments and i hit the jack pot with this car. I have only had it since Friday afternoon and i am overwhelmed with the compliments.
Now to start making it "mine". The first thing on my list is wheels. I can't stand the ones he has on it now. I will be changing them in less than 2 weeks. After that who knows....:)

found a new hobby

By outlaw_fan

just a couple of weeks ago i got brave and went to my first car show with Dakota r/t and got 3rd in mini trucks. So just to make sure i actually had fun i thought i would try again yesterday so i went to another and got 2nd this time.
I hate that i found this so late in the year but i plan on fixing up the truck some more this winter. Nothing major until i get it paid off but i am looking forward to next summer already.

done cleaning

By outlaw_fan

i sold 2 V8s in 2 days. Friday i sold the Durango then Saturday i sold my 2001 Dakota R/T. not many dealers can say they sold 2 V8s in 2 days. right after the 2001 R/T was sold i hit the road to get my new truck. i came home with a 1999 Dodge Dakota club cub 5.9 with only 22,863 miles on it. this truck has NOTHING wrong with it. it came with a hard bed cover, spray on bed liner, and a dodge mat over it (wouldn't want to hurt the liner i guess), factory window vent visors, step rail, and bug shield.

spring cleaning

By outlaw_fan

i will be cleaning out my drive way this weekend and moving in a couple of new toys. i should have pictures sometime next week. i can't wait to show you my new toys.

FOR SALE!!

By outlaw_fan

i am selling both my Durango and Dakota r/t. not because of gas prices. but because i have found another dakota i want that combines what i like about these 2. they are both priced below NADA. if interested shoot me an e-mail or pm.

runnin like a champ

By outlaw_fan

just replaced the plugs and changed the oil in the R/T and man does it run like a champ. it was running kinda rough before that so i'm real glad that we solved the problem.

New Exhaust

By outlaw_fan

i was finally able to get new exhaust on my dakota r/t today. i've been wanting to get it done since i got it and i finally had the money. i was told it had Flowmaster on it when i bought it but when they put the old one in the back of the truck it doesn't say Flowmaster anywhere so.....
but now i have glasspacks on and i am very happy with them.

workin on the "family truck"

By outlaw_fan

we are slowly giving up on selling the Durango and slowly fixing it up. we have changed the oil and put 2 new front tires on it. now she drives like a dream. next will be fixing the blower motor or front end alignment. but they will both be soon. we had decided not to put any $ into it since we were going to sell it. but now we are starting to appreciate it more and more. hopefully soon we'll have it running like Dodge intended it to.
