About me and my passion for cars
I have had a desire for cars for as long as I can remember. My dad was a big insperation for me as a young boy. He would work on all kinds of projects. He had several dirt cars and loved to fix old Fairlanes up. Cars to me are as art is to some people. I just can't seem to stop buying them. I love to see them come apart and then back together better than they were when they were new in some cases. I know for some, they don't have the time or the ability to do all the work themselves but I truly am blessed with the talent of doing all the work myself. If it were possible, I would never go to work. But stay home and play in the garage every day.
My first car
My first was a 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 that my Dad gave me when I was fourteen. It didn't run but he gave me a 289 out of his 65 Mustang that he was parting out. So one day while he was gone to work I pulled two engines and reinstaled one in mine and had it running when Dad got home. You should have seen the grin on my Dad's face. I will never forget that big grin. You see, Dad is gone now but he left me a passion that will never die.
Car I wish I still had
My dad and I built a 1968 Plymouth Belvader when I was seventeen. The engine was a 340 six pack my Dad raced for two years on dirt track.
The body I bought from my cousin Chuck for One-hundred and seventy-five dollars. we painted it Corvette red and bought white interior out of a Satilite. My Uncle Charlie gave me a 410 possi unit and four speed out of a GTX. It was the first car I ever took a girl out in and the second girl to ride in it I married. Wish I still had it, found it once but let it get away again.
My dream car
actually I own my dream car. As a boy I always wanted a 47 thru 54 chevy truck and it took me and my wife several years to build it. But the 49 has been in our family since 1990 and has ben completed for about six years now. The only other car I would really love to own is a 1955 Chevy Belair with a big block in it and huge rubber out back.
Car clubs I’m in
I belong to C.A.R.S Car Club here in the Ringgold GA. area. The club members are the finest bunch of men and ladies I have ever had the honor of being around. We have so much fun cruizin and hanging out together.
I can truly say I love every one of them.
