When we last visited the Muscle Truck project, a dedicated group of gearheads had gathered at Editor Noack’s house to remove the old 305-ci small-block engine and 4L60-E AOD tranny in preparation for a wicked new power plant. The “motorvation” will be provided by a righteous HT383 stroker long-block courtesy of GM Performance Parts. But, before we stuffed the new mill between the frame rails of Travis’ Silverado, we had to tidy up the decade-old engine bay. You wouldn’t invite friends over without cleaning up the house a bit, would ya? Neither would we.

From the moment we turned the first wrench on Operation Muscle Truck the concept was to create a pickup with a performance slant. It had to hug the ground, go around corners like nobody’s business, have a vintage muscle car era feel, and be stuffed with a power plant that would set pilot and passengers back in the seats.

Coming from a small town in Colorado, there were very few custom trucks to inspire Mike Partyka. Instead of being able to check out numerous trucks at a local show, Mike’s only influence came via the magazine rack at a nearby convenience store.

But when owner Mike Jones looked to build his next personal truck, a brand-new ’07 Chevy Silverado, he sought to change things up a bit and opted for a cleaner look.

Jeremy Rice out of Glendale, Arizona, crafted his 1987 Mazda B2000 not only to display Hydroholics components, but also to showcase the historic timeline of mini-trucks. He took a cue from the history of mini-trucks while adding a modern, ultra-sano twist.
