The longest running show in the Northwest was back again and bigger than ever before. The kickback pace and the perfect weather is a welcome vacation from the hot and humid shows elsewhere during the summertime. The hospitality shown by the folks from Sittin’ Pretti car club is immense and is passed on to those attending the show, ensuring that everyone has a great and memorable experience at the event each year.
Myself alongside other editors and the folks from Crime Pays Video were picked up in a party bus from the airport in a short time (20 minutes, right?!). We headed straight for the Red Hook Brewery for a crazy tour and lunch before moving on to the show grounds to check things out and watch everyone get ready for the next day. The weather for the show was perfect and a great cap to a hot show summer. Nearly 250 hot cars and trucks were sitting at the Arlington Airport. The show has grown each and every year with attendees coming from all over the Northwest, California, Canada and even Arizona.
Club games were held throughout the day, including tricycle races, a frozen shirt contest and more. The raffle at Summer Slam is always off the hook, anyone would regret not buying any tickets with prizes this year including a set of wheels from both MHT and KMC. Slam Specialties and AIM donated more than a dozen sets of airbags, and 4 Viair compressors were available along with many other prizes. The awards, some of which were custom billet airbag trophies, were handed out shortly after the raffle. Billy Bob Customs painted the toilet seat trophies for the top picks including the Street Trucks pick that went to Darren Hipskind and his highly detailed Chevrolet Cameo.
