my first boat..what was the old saying?...the 2 best days in a boater's life.....
this boat had many engine looks(blew up a lot of stuff). from a fully blown nitrous fed 468 with twin 750 double pumpers(1000hp), to a 402 torgue monster (480hp, 525 ft lbs of torque), and lastly a 502 beast(685hp). this boat was a v-drive. it was no 'pleasure' boat. no reverse. had to start it in gear. you had to drive it with both hands on the steering wheel at ALL times(if you were to let go of the steering wheel under power, the boat would probably barrel roll. the torque of the v-drive was tremendous...). for that matter, you also had to outrun your wake when decelerating. the rear of the boat only sat a few inches above water level and the water would roll over the back.
i was told that this boat ran 128 in race form, but i doubt that i ever got the boat over 100mph. no speedo. nobody fast enough to run by my side. just a tach. i would walk past my friend's 80 mph boat and only be pulling 5500 rpm with 1500 rpm remaining.(these were only with the 10% overdrive gears installed. i had a set of 27% that i never installed)
now that it's gone...i missed it
