- Way to go! Very nice car! I love the sound and performance of the Pontiac motor! Congrats to you, I know they are a lot more expensive to build and keep going than with a rat motor. But they are a lot more fun!

About
Bought the Tubed Vega Chassis at a swap meet several years ago and threw a Pontiac 400 into it (hence Astre). I have been racing it ever since.
I have won the Colorado Super Chevy Show in the car twice, 2000 and 2006. I was in the non-delay class both times.
Specs
Drivetrain:
.070 overbored 400ci Pontiac Motor that has been stroked to a 465ci using a small journal 455 stroke crank, H-beam rods, and .040 over 455 Keith Black Hyperutectic pistons.
Iron #16 heads that I ported to flow around 250cfm @ 28"
Dominator 1150cfm carb
Powerglide tranny with a trans-brake
Dana 60 with 4:56 gears
Mark Williams axles with a spool
"NEW" added Zoomies this year to add to the "flopper" look and to open up my exhaust alot.
Chassis:
Tube-frame with a 4 Link rear suspension setup
I stretched the nose 19" to allow for better handling and more room for all the engine and exhaust
Tires:
F: 26" Goodyears
R: 33x16 Goodyear slicks
Factory Options
Any factory options (including sheetmetal) have been stripped off long ago.
Mods
Besides the tube frame:
Fiberglass front clip/hood
Harwood fiberglass rear hatch
Harwood fiberglass doors
Fiberglass rear bumper
...more fiberglass on the rear panels
Full roll cage
Wheel tubs
Total weight: 2650 (with me in the car)
